Statherin mRNA from saliva with GoCollect®

Oct 31, 2025

Saliva is one of the most accessible diagnostic samples available but it is also one of the most challenging. It’s rich mucin which inhibits many tests and prevents reliable sampling, and in enzymes that degrade RNA within seconds. It's why reliable molecular testing from saliva has been so hard to achieve.

At ReadyGo we used statherin, a small mRNA expressed only in salivary glands, as our biological proof that GoCollect® is working.

Statherin plays a unique role in maintaining enamel integrity by preventing hydroxyapatite crystal growth, but diagnostically it’s invaluable: it’s saliva-specific, consistently expressed, and sensitive to degradation. That makes it the perfect internal control for mRNA preservation.

Our data show that statherin mRNA collected using GoCollect® remains amplifiable days and weeks after collection even when stored at room temperature, no cold chain and no additives. This confirms that GoCollect® doesn’t just capture saliva but it also protects the molecular information within it, enabling true RNA-based diagnostics outside the lab. In nature, statherin stops unwanted crystal growth. In diagnostics, it helps us prove sample has been collected from the right place and that nucleic acids are present and amplifiable.

GoCollect® demonstrates a big shift compared to swab based collection.
